Title:
constant background noise sound after upgrading to ubuntu 12.04

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After the upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10 my laptop constantly plays a
soft windlike noise sound through the laptops speakers.
When I set the audio output to silent and turn down the volume to 0 the noise
sound changes a little, but continues playing.
When I plug in earphones the laptops speakers stop playing it and the sound
gets only played through the earphones, that's my current workaround to get rid
of the annoying noise.
Other sounds like music still playback normally, but the noise is always in
the background.

I think I've got an Intel HDA sound card build into my laptop (the new
audio-settings tool only shows intern audio as it's name).
Before the upgrade there was a second Soundcard in the list, but that one
didn't work.
The laptop is a LG R710.

If there are any logs and configuration files I can append to help you
  please tell me.
