When looking at the output from 13.04, you seem to have forgotten to
turn up the microphone gain. Also you seem not to have done any
recording test before running alsa-info on 13.04.
('Capture' and 'Internal Mic' gain are both at minimum values.)
Anyway, assuming you've tried that and it still doesn't work, there were
no other differences that looked relevant to me. I also browsed through
the changes to the most relevant file but didn't find anything.
So, next step is to check latest upstream drivers:

And if it still does not work, a git bisect...
