I had to manually refresh the view to see the new file. The problem goes away if I uninstall the "ubuntuone-client-gnome" package, so I think the problem must be caused by the nautilus integration for Ubuntu One. Does anyone else have this problem and find that it goes away if you remove the Ubuntu One client?
