Public bug reported: Unity forbids the "Windows Key" from being used in shortcuts (LP#950160). However, the gnome-control-center keyboard shortcut application will happily allow users to try to assign keyboard shortcuts that use this key combination.
gnome-control-center should not allow keys to be assigned that cannot possibly work. The user must be made aware in some fashion that the desired setting is impossible. Launch the control center; select Keyboard. Select Shortcuts. Select any function (calculator?). Hit Windows+d to assign. Note the assignment "worked". Try your key. It won't start the calculator.
