totem player/kaffeine player unable to play a single video after
installing proper codec for them---no sound in portable ubuntu

Bug description:
firefox is using very old version 3.0.1.no update is possible.
i have downloaded some videos in .flv format --when i use to play them in
default totem player some 59 mb codecs are downloaded and installed-----but
sorry no play back is possible. then i installed kaffeine player----
installed some codecs downloaded by the player itself but no sccess in
playing videos.
in fire fox utube video are not playing---moreover no sound atall.
