Mac air 1,1 no sound

Bug description:
i have a mac air 1,1 model, installed ubuntu 10.04 (think that's it) wireless
wasn't working until I installed a driver (works fine now) but I can't get
sound to work, headphones-nothing
output sound-nothing
microphone-no idea because sound won't work.
I'm very new to this so sorry if I'm not doing it right.
