Thanks, close it now as its fixed for you, the reason could be both
sessions have different settings and is isn't unity bug anyways.

Title:
  Date and day plus time not working right

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When I use the 32 bit O/S ( Old laptop ) I have up there in the tray (
  month, day, year, and time )

  Then I have the 64 bit on this NEW Laptop and only get TIME  same O/S
  12.10 ?  I even installed the ubuntu tweeks and checked the box which
  says to put day and date there with the time but nothing happens
