I have an example document, which I can open with Adobe Reader X but not in Evince. As said in the bug description, it has no password for reading the document, but security for editing it, yet evince asks for a password to open it. When trying to open, I get this error
Syntax Error (96):Illegal character '{' Syntax Error: Invalid encryption key length Command Line Error: Incorrect password
I've attached a screenshot of the security properties of the pdf. If anyone wants the pdf, just email me at alzho...@hotmail.com. ** Attachment added: "Settings of the pdf" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/650699/+attachment/3473756/+files/security-settings.png ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650699 Title: documents with a modify password, but no read password, cannot be read Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: evince If the document in question is read-only by way of having a password for modify and no password for read (as are common on the net these days) cannot be opened in evince, while windows has no issues reading them. I'm guessing that the issue is that there is no way to enter a null password into the password prompt... especially since pdfcrack finds the password ('') in nothing flat. can we please fix that? thanks, lamont To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/650699/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
