Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: - buy a cd that is not registered with music brainz but contains cd text and insert into your pc - start banshee: it reports that no metadata for this cd could be received and displays only generic track/author names - stop banshee and start rhythmbox - rhythmbox informs that this cd is not on musicbrainz, shows titel and disc name and offers to upload the disc data - click in rhythmbox to upload music brainz, complete musicbrainz procession (until data is confirmed) - restart banshee, close rhythmbox - banshee now shows metadata - use banshee settings to disable "all actions requiring internet activity" - restart banshee, still shows metadata - drop network connection using network manager - restart banshee, now it does not find any metadata anymore - reconnect network - banshee now finds metadata
Expected results: - with banshee having internet-related actions disabled, it should not query musicbrainz - at least with cd-text being present, musicbrainz queries should not be default at all Security: - Disabling all internet activity protects privacy if implemented properly.
