(Expletive deleted) It happens now also on screen 8 with my primary user. I simply cannot pick up the laptop and go to a meeting. Logout/login required. This is seriously driving me towards Windows (no offense intended, but I need to do my job even more than I need to use my preferred OS).

Things were, finally, quite perfect for a few weeks before that. Thanks to whoever fixed the docking/undocking nightmare previously. Now it is back with a vengeance. When undocking, the display resolution on the default X screen (screen 7) is "stretched". Only the lower about 40% of the screen shows on the physical screen. The background image and any app window is enlarged and distorted. Very little can be done, since the menu entries on the top bar apparently are placed above the physical screen. This happens no matter how the undocking is done. Lock screen, suspend, nothing helps. Oddly, the next display (screen 8, default for guest session) is not affected. What I do is to log in on the primary display with a dummy user made for this purpose, choose my real user for an extra login, and work normally. I tried to have a guest login in screen 8 and undock when on that screen, but screen 7 was still affected. root@...:~# dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-video-intel ii xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 amd64 X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver root@...:~# lshw -C display *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 02 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:44 memory:f2000000-f23fffff memory:d0000000-dfffffff ioport:1800(size=8) root@...:~# uname -a Linux ... 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 13 17:48:01 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux root@...:~# To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1081922/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
