Title:
  Sound/Audio skips frequently

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
While playing audio from any source (vlc, banshee, youtube (chrome))
the audio output will skip (its almost like a stutter) frequently
  (maybe once every 5 minutes).

My setup involves an external Denon AVR-791 amp that I have hooked up
with SPDIF. However, I have also been able to reproduce the problem
using HDMI from my AMD 6950 and using the plain old headphone 3.5 mm
plug from my motherboard. I believe that this means the problem is
not due to a sound card since the SPDIF should be using my amp's sound
car and the headphone plug should be using my motherboard (ASUS P6T
Deluxe V2) built in sound card, but I could be wrong.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

This is my first bug submit, so please let me know if there is
  anything else I can provide...
