Irving - I tried the "try" build. After thunderbird started it began indexing 11000+ emails and started downloading from different folders. I had to exit it before it stabilized because it consumed an extremely large amount of memory and my system became extremely unresponsive.
IO wait was around 50% and load average was over 7 by the time I exited thunderbird.
