Can't test that as I use neither. Bug is still unsolved though and the ugly workaround still works as of 12.10.

That is, the distortions can only be clearly heard while listening to piano music or music with similar high and clean notes. The error is there no matter what player or sound server is used. *Workaround* Neverheless, the error can be easily addressed using the tool HDA-Analyzer: http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa.git;a=blob_plain;f=hda-analyzer/run.py;hb=HEAD Simply running this program as root and in the entry "Node[0x02] AUD_OUT" disable and enable the checkbox called "enable" and suddenly my loudspeakers do not sound broken anymore. This has to be done every time the alsa has restarted, which might only be when the system is restarted and for me once per month, so the problem is alot more irritating than applying the simple workaround. Attachment: output from alsa-info.sh concerning my system, alsa- version, soundcard etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/553473/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
