This is fixed in 12.10. While the session chooser isn't perfect from
design's point of view, the highlight is working correctly, AFAIK.

There is no longer a highlight for an option under the pointer. Only
the currently selected entry is highlighted.

  unity-greeter 0.2.7-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu 12.04 beta

  1. At the login screen, click the icon next to the login name.

  What happens:
  * The menu contains two highlighted items, the currently selected session and
whichever is under the pointer.
  * The highlight style is identical in each case.

  What should happen:
  * The menu should open with the currently selected session immediately under
the pointer, like native menus do.

(This is the sequel to bug 981687, where the currently selected
session was not shown at all.)
