Running an LCD monitor at other than it's native resolution is not recommended, as it produces an inferior image.

(e.g., 1440x900, 1280x800). Only 4:3 modes are displayed. Adding other modes to to the Display subsection does not work as X does not have the modelines for any of these resolutions. They are discarded in Xorg.0.log. I'm running the -ati drivers on an RV350.
