** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 782953 Software Center doesn't detect changes in sources until update-apt-xapian-index is ran by cron -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057822 Title: USC cannot install software from PPAs when desired Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: If I wish to install Ubuntu software that is packaged by the developer and is not available in Ubuntu (or it's latest form, which would be desirable in many cases) - USC does not work as expected. Namely, after adding the PPA to sources as per Launchpad instructions, USC cannot find the software. A workaround is to use another program, the Update Manager, to run a check on the newly-available software first and then go back to USC to install it. This is fairly unintuitive.
