Put laptop to sleep 2. Wait until battery is almost fully discharged 3. Attach AC adapter 4. Wake up laptop A workaround is to change the critical power adapter in the power management control panel. However, this is not desirable; I'd still like a clean shutdown if I run the battery to zero, but it's not helpful to shut down when the machine is already on AC.
