When I say there should be a confirmation box, I mean specifically, there should be a message box which warns that selecting more than one package to open will slow down the system, and asks confirmation from the user before executing their command.

This caused the system to use up almost all its resources in trying to fulfil my (accidental) commands. The cpu went to 100% usage, my 4GB of RAM was swiftly filled, the swap memory became nearly filled as well. It took a long time, but I was able to close the Software Centre instances one by one. Need a confirmation box in these sorts of cases. This would prevent the user from making a mistake like this. It had almost catastrophic consequences.
