Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to system-config-printer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451451 Title: Integrated batch printing in Nautilus Status in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “system-config-printer” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: nautilus Nautilus should be enhanced with „batch printing“: 1) In nautilus: User selects several files by marking them with mouse pointer 2) On right-click nautilus should offer a menu item, e.g. something like that: „print selected files (batch-printing)“ 3) Then nautilus should hand over all print jobs to another application, e.g. „system-config-printer“ 4) „System-config-printer“ should now handle all print jobs. 5) „System-config-printer“ should now open all applications that are connected with the marked files (e.g.: *.odf-file with OpenOffice; *.pdf with Evince; txt-files with gettext; etc.) 6) The relevant should start a print job and should hand it over the print queue. After print data hand-over application should close themselves. 7) „System-config-printer“ should now open a user dialog: „All queued print jobs to default printer?“ [Yes] – [No] – [Customize print jobs] 8) If user selects [Customize print jobs], „System-config-printer“ should open a dialog, so that the user is able to decide which printer for which print job should be adressed (e.g. network printer, local printer). On the one hand, the more I think about this feature, the more I realize that this is quite complex to realize in Ubuntu. On the other hand, a batch queue printing pipeline in Nautilus is very useful and enhances office productivity very much.
