nobuto, symptoms still/ again present in Ubuntu 12.04.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 in Dutch as primary language.
After adding both English and Japanese languages to this installation (and many
Japanese-capable fonts, takao-fonts included), I still get the boxes instead of
proper Japanese when starting LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
This might be a regression, but it does not work as expected.
The proper JP language packs for LibreOffice are installed, I even reinstalled
them, just be sure.
Still those same boxes.

Title:
UI unreadable with Japanese language pack

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: libreoffice

  I'm testing libreoffice 1:3.3.0-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 11.04 alpha 2.

When I installed the Japanese language package (libreoffice-l10n-ja),
almost all of UI were shown as square boxes so I cannot read them at
all. To avoid that, I had to set the font replacement ("Ubuntu" ->
  "TakaoPGothic") by groping.
