Title:
Flickering window when switching between open windows

Status in Unity:
  Expired
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
When switching between open overlapping windows, the window you're
switching to flickers for a very short time, revealing the underlying
  window during the flicker.

  To reproduce:
  1. Open two windows (can be any application, preferably two different
applications, for example Firefox and Thunderbird, so that the glitch is easier
to spot).
  2. Use the Unity launcher to switch between the two windows (e.g. if the
Firefox windows is on top, click the Thunderbird icon to switch to Thunderbird,
and then vise versa).

  Current incorrect behavior:
  3. When repeating step 2, you'll notice that each time you switch to a
different window, that window flickers for a very short time. When you click an
icon in the Unity Launcher, first the corresponding window is displayed (e.g.
Firefox), than during the short flicker the underlying window is displayed
again (e.g. Thunderbird), and then it jumps back again to the window you just
opened (e.g. Firefox).

  Desired correct behavior:
  3. When clicking the icon for an open window in the Unity launcher, the
corresponding application should become visible without flickering.

The above problem only happens with already opened windows. And the
windows have to (partially) overlap for this to happen.

This is after a clean install of Ubuntu 11.10, updating the system,
and installing some software. I can't remember if it happened before
  doing any updates/software installs.
