12.04 LTS has plenty of severe issues on this machine, but THIS issue is not one of them. This was resolved at some point after I ugraded off of Lucid.

My system is an Alienware M15x and it has an onboard copper 1Gb card as well as an Intel Wireless card: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection (rev 06) 07:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection I use the copper connection whenever I'm sitting at my desk and only drop to wireless when I decide to move somewhere. However, whenever the copper is connected, the wireless is still being turned on and off at seemingly random intervals.
