12.04 LTS has plenty of severe issues on this machine, but THIS issue is
not one of them. This was resolved at some point after I ugraded off of
Lucid.

Title:
NM keeps enabling and disabling Wi-Fi adapter while another adapter is
  in use

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

Just noticed while working today that the wireless card keeps being
  connected and disconnected.

My system is an Alienware M15x and it has an onboard copper 1Gb card
as well as an Intel Wireless card:

00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LC Gigabit Network
Connection (rev 06)
07:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh]
Network Connection

I use the copper connection whenever I'm sitting at my desk and only
drop to wireless when I decide to move somewhere. However, whenever
the copper is connected, the wireless is still being turned on and off
  at seemingly random intervals.

Here are the messages from /var/log/messages that have mention the
  word radio:

You'll notice that they jump from 5 Apr to 8 Apr... no idea why this
didn't happen to me on the 6th or 7th, but for whatever reason nothing
  happened on those dates.
