Public bug reported:

Hi,

if you select time synchronisation over the internet, NTP must be installed
(offered in the dialog) . This results in a waiting loop (1 minute) after log
in.
I found a hint in the internet concerning NTP and NTPDATE. Therefore I
deinstalled NTPDATE, AFAIK installed per default. After this the waiting loop
is gone.
Think that the package manager should do this automatically.

BS: Xubuntu 12.04
