Duplicate of bug #425455 (as stated by the OP).

Please add your (additional) comments comments to that bug instead of opening a
new one.
It is also possible to a new affected project to an existing bug (which has
been done for network-manager), so opening a new report for this reason is also
not required.

Title:
[Karmic] Wireless LAN disconnects frequently # Chipsets Intel 3945ABG,
4965AGN, etc @ AP with WPA

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

It seems to be some issue with this package as regards to the loose of the
wireless connection under some scenarios, namely WPA and some Intel chipsets
(3945ABG, 4965AGN, etc). There is a lot of information about it in this bug
report.

If wicd is installed instead network-manager the wireless connections
works fine, so I think this bug may be related with this very package
  and not the kernel.

  Regards, Miguel.
