Sorry, folks... Seems a duplicate of the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/782953
Though I didn't understand - 'until update-apt-xapian-index is ran by cron' When I add a PPA, it does not update it's info to include the PPA packages. ** Summary changed: - sotware center does not update package list + software center does not update package list -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997051 Title: software center does not update package list Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: Please add a reload button to update the software cache each time I add a new repository. Well. newer users of Ubuntu may not add a PPA due to security concerns or because they won't know how to, but the older ones would take a backup and risk experimenting with their OS. I don't know why the software center does not reload even though I saw a bug that this was fixed in version 1.1 itself. I use Ubuntu Precise. Why not add a button saying 'reload' or a menu option, 'Update software list'? It would be very helpful if the aim is to make a fully functinal GUI. Why would I go back to the command line after choosing to use the GUI software center?
