Alacarte does not create/modify anything anymore.

Bug description:
In Alacarte (with or without superuser rights), clicking on the 'New Item',
'New Menu' or 'Properties' buttons has no effect. Unfortunately, clicking on
'Delete' does work.
It used to work in the past, but I do not know what could be the changes I
did that led to this situation.
