The video cards used are GeForce 6 series (6200 Go PCIE and 6600 LE AGP8x) I got the bug with the nvidia drivers (linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20(21 and 22)-generic with the nvidia-glx package. Since I won't have my computers for some days, I can't confirm the bug with the vesa and nv drivers, but if I remember correctly, the same bug happened.
I never tried with totem-gstreamer, because I was unable to watch movies encoded with the x264 codec. I couldn't find any gstreamer-x264 package and got no help from totem (like when you insert a dvd for the first time) I hope those infos will help you, and if it's not the case, just tell me and I'll try to complete my bug report as soon as I can.
