I'm not exactly sure this is the right place to post this, but the exact same thing happens regarding Konqueror in Kubuntu: the back and forward buttons of my Logitech 310MX work correctly under Firefox, and do not work at all on Konqueror. I've been fiddling with mouse setting ad nauseum until I found this post, and resolved to post my comment.
