Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor
My system crashed during the upgrade to Feisty. When I restarted the PC, the Upgrade Manager recognized what happened and went on with the installation until a reboot was required again. Now, every time the PC boots up, if the kenel is 2.6.17.11 the system crashes at spash screen, when the progress bar is not yet moved from the begin. The same thing happens with 2.6.17.11 (recovery) and with 2.6.17.10 (recovery). Only booting with 2.6.17-10-generic the system goes up. In this case I can log in with my user name and password, but only choosing the "2. GNOME" option. Otherwise, if I try to log in with "1. Run Xclient script", that's the standard option, the system crashes again. When I'im logged in and GNOME is running, every thing I try to do as Super User, the system says me that password is incorrect. Besides, some other problems occours with the gnome-panel: for example, the window's buttons are placed in the wrong place (at center, not at corners), or more, when I minimize a window the header don't appear in the bottom bar so I can't use it more. I think that the script that appear in the session selection at log in time was the completion of the upgrade actions, but without logging in as Super User I can't do nothing to resove my troubles... Please help me (and excuse my english).
