You can remove your gconf folder in the home directory and then you will e able to use your'e account again. The only problem with this is that all of the settings are gone. I also now get an error message when trying to open theme manager. The error message is: "Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager." I think that this is a bonobo server
