I searched for existing bugs related to "meta_display_new" and "code
should not be reached" in headless setups but found no exact matches.
* OS: Ubuntu 26.04-snapshot1 (Resolute Ocelot)
* Environment: WSL2 (Windows 11) using xrdp
* Issue: When trying to start a GNOME session via xrdp, the screen remains
black and the session terminates immediately.
* Reproduction:
1. Install Ubuntu 26.04-snapshot1 on WSL2.
2. Install ubuntu-desktop and xrdp.
3. Connect via Windows Remote Desktop.
* Error Log (Crucial):
Running `gnome-shell` manually in an xterm window produces the following
output:
libmutter-Message: Running GNOME Shell (using mutter 49.2) as a X11 window
and compositing manager
libmutter-Message: No seat assigned, running headlessly
libmutter-Message: Created surfaceless renderer without GPU
