The point here is that using Cairo software renderer is as simple as adding those three lines in the `debian/rules` file of any package, and that greatly simplifies fixing these problems because we aren't masking them, but ensuring that they still work in a specific environment. And also, if someone in a deep, dark basement is using a s390x for desktop work, they can set that same environment variable and ensure that everything will work as expected.
