Public bug reported:

**Summary:**

GNOME Shell crashes with a segmentation fault (signal 11) when the user
manually clears a large number of notifications via the "Clear" button
in the notification panel.

**Steps to Reproduce:**

1. Open a terminal and send multiple notifications using the following
command repeatedly (Run the command several times to generate a high
number of notifications):

notify-send --app-name="Test" "Title" "Message"

2. Open the GNOME notification panel and scroll to view all the
generated notifications.

3. Click the "Clear" button to remove all notifications.

**Expected Result:**

Notifications are cleared without any crash or error.

**Actual Result:**

GNOME Shell crashes immediately with the following error message:

** (gnome-shell:21352): WARNING **: 11:10:35.813:
(../cogl/cogl/cogl-pipeline.c:539):_cogl_pipeline_update_layers_cache: code
