** Description changed:

+ [ Impact ]
+
When running IntelliJ IDEA in an X session with Mutter and an nVidia
graphics card and proprietary drivers some dialogs have a semi-
transparent background making it hard to read any text in those.

The bug was originally reported here:
  https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-6983

Then an issue was filed against Mutter and successfully resolved:
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/3600

The resolution has been confirmed by several people building Mutter from
source as is supported by comments here:

+ [ Test Plan ]

- The corresponding Mutter package for Ubuntu 24.04 has not yet been updated to
include the suggested fix. Please, consider backporting this change:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/3914
- Thank you!
+ 1. Set up a machine an NVIDIA GPU running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and the
proprietary NVIDIA drivers
+ 2. Log-in to a GNOME Xorg session
+ 3. Install IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition from the App Center
+ 4. Open IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition
+ 5. Open or create a new Project
+ 6. Hit Ctrl+N to bring up 'Search Classes' box
+ 7. Type '/' in the search box to populate the results
+ 8. Verify that the background of the floating box is solid (non-translucent)
+ 9. Press backspace to delete the '/' character
+ 10. Repeat steps 7~9 for 10 times, ensuring that the floating box is never
translucent
+
+ [ Where problems could occur ]
+
+ mutter is the component of GNOME driving the screen and inputs, and thus
+ is a critical component of Ubuntu Desktop.
+
+ Problems could manifest as applications rendering with the wrong colors, such
as an inverted effect or other artifacts.
+ At worst the user may be suddenly logged-out in case GNOME Shell crashes
because of a bug introduced by this patch.
