My apologies, you're right.

So I've tested again (using add-apt-repository), and the packages could
be installed fine.

Here are the results on my machine, with my test-case:

- without the PPA (version 1.54.0-1ubuntu2), I measured the same results as 
before: average of 34% of a CPU
- with your PPA (version 1.54.0-1ubuntu2ppa4), I measured 14% of a CPU

So yes, it becomes a more significant improvement, as it divides the CPU
resource usage by 2.4.

I see that https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/merge_requests/254 is
not merged yet. I hope it will be merged soon, so that Ubuntu 25.04
might benefit from it? (before considering a backport?)
