unfortunately, the prompt client will not work with generic appimages at this time. It is currently exclusively for applications packaged up as snaps. Yes appimages can be packaged as snaps and then it would work but it would not work for generic appimages. We are working on a prompt solution for appimages via aa-notify. It is available in oracular, and an updated version will soon be available in plucky.
