This was also happening to me - With a fresh Ubuntu 24.04.01 install.
Logging in Wayland or with "Ubuntu on Xorg" did not make a difference.

I believe it may have something to do with gnome-terminal profiles. I
did not attempt debugging as the problem went away after using dconf to
load my previously saved gnome-terminal profiles.

For example, I had previously saved my gnome-terminal profiles using:

user% dconf dump "/org/gnome/terminal/legacy/profiles:/" > my_profiles

After installing 24.04.01 I used this to load them into gnome-terminal
using:

user% dconf load "/org/gnome/terminal/legacy/profiles:/" < my_profiles

Please see attached "my_profiles" for the profiles that are restored.
The contents of which may or may not have specific effects on this bug.
It is included for illustration.
