Actually, I don't think Wayland was disabled but just not the default. So we need another explanation. Luckily I got another explanation :)
Both the default Xorg and the default Wayland sessions are called "ubuntu.desktop" (under /usr/share/xsessions/ and /usr/share/wayland-sessions/ respectively). The non-default sessions instead have a -xorg or -wayland postfix. When the default changes, the saved session name is still "ubuntu" but it now points to a different session, thus the switch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2080498 Title: Default session type changed from Xorg to Wayland in some installs of 22.04 on Nvidia hybrids since kernel 6.8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/2080498/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
