I found out that I have the issue with the missing icons in nautilus
nearly every time I go to suspend and wake up again. It can be solved by
restarting nautilus again. So I guess this is just the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1876632


So let's talk about the other bug with the crashing gnome-shell: I should be 
able to reproduce this. I will try that after work today and see if something 
is in /var/crash.
