You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since I installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with proprietary NVidia drivers using
Xorg (because Wayland is still no option for me because of too many
problems) I started to find issues here and there.

This time in nautilus there were just no icons visible. So I decided to
restart Gnome like I always did with Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS. But after just
a few seconds all my monitors became grey with X as the mouse cursor and
a text saying that something has crashed.

It is reproducible and very annoying because I rely on that
functionality. Most problems occur after a suspend and wake up which I
do several times a day. Shutting down is no option for me because it
takes way to long to open all the applications again which were open
before. And now with this bug all the open applications just get killed
which is even more problematic.

I really hoped a fresh clean installation of Ubuntu will fix some issues
I already had with Ubuntu 22.04 but it got worse. Please help me. Or do
I really move to a completely other distribution to check if they can do
it better? I don't want that. Ubuntu is nice but the graphic glitches
are annoying.
