Thank you for your bug report. What would you expect the right behaviour to be? The layout is built by assigning their width to the columns on the right and then using the available free space for the names. If each column width was matching the content then there would be some empty/white space on the right of the view, also navigating between folders the geometry would change according to the content/filenames in the directory
Could you also perhaps make your design suggestion directly upstream on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues ? ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078511 Title: Unable to reduce column width for file NAME in nautilus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2078511/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
