I had a working system despite this bug with the MUTTER_DEBUG_KMS_THREAD_TYPE=user workaround, after upgrading to get this fix I can no longer use the laptop. It prints "[ OK ] Starting gdm.service" during boot and then hangs. No GUI comes up. I can get into vterms with ctrl-alt-fn-fkey but ofc I need a GUI. Persists across reboots. Removing the `MUTTER_DEBUG_KMS_THREAD_TYPE=user` workaround did not fix things. This happened at an inconvenient time and has caused big problems. Will file another bug I guess
