I agree with the general consensus here. RDP is not "desktop interactive" and VNC is insecure, however, when SSH tunneling to the VNC localhost server, is very secure.
Enabling Vino for Ubuntu Gnome desktop was brutally simple and easy, plus there is excellent support for using SSH to connect.
