I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet. Other music player apps (e.g. Spotify) use space for pause without apparent issue. The space bar is the largest affordance on a keyboard and play/pause is the most common action in a music player (and often the one with most urgency attached), so it makes sense to use it in this way. As things are currently (v3.4.4, October 2022), I can't even use tab to select the play/pause button, so the argument about accessibility appears spurious in practice.
At the very least, there could be a preferences option to enable play/pause on space. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185928 Title: Pressing Space key should toggle play/pause (pause when playing; play when paused) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/185928/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
