As I hadn't used Evolution for a while I made sure that all three accounts that I have set up were working correctly. I enabled -proposed and upgraded evolution and its dependencies to version 3.44.4-0ubuntu1.
As per the text case I can confirm that with the updated version of evolution I can send and receive emails and that HTML emails are displayed correctly.
