This issue is caused by `mate-maximus` which is part of the `mate- netboot` package. `mate-netboot` doesn't get much upstream development attention so unlikely to fixed in the near future.
Ubuntu MATE provides several resolution-efficient panel layouts, so removing `mate-netbook` from Ubuntu MATE is the best option for addressing this issue. mate-netbook was removed from ubuntu-mate-meta 1.281: - https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-meta/1.281 ** Changed in: marco (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Also affects: mate-netbook (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: ubuntu-mate ** Also affects: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Martin Wimpress (flexiondotorg) ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854383 Title: Extra window decorations are created on windows with client-side decorations.
