Public bug reported: In gnome the primary monitor is quite important as it's the one where the overview will be shown.
So when selecting where to put the dock in appearance settings, this should be mentioned in order to make sure where it will be showing, and this is more important when there are multiple monitors with the same name. [ Impact ] It may be impossible to understand what monitor we refer to in ubuntu's appearance settings pane [ Test case ] Run: env NO_AT_BRIDGE=1 HOME=/tmp/TEST_HOME \ XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/tmp/.tmp-runtime-dir \ XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland \ MUTTER_DEBUG_NUM_DUMMY_MONITORS=3 \ dbus-run-session gnome-shell --nested --wayland In that nested view with three fake monitors, run gnome-control-center and go in the "Appearance" view. In the combo-box it's impossible to understand to what monitor we're applying the dock "show in" setting, nor what it is currently the primary monitor - The monitors should be marked by numbers and while this view is showing the shell should mark each monitor the same way [ Regression potential ] Strings might be shown not properly in RTL languages ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Marco Trevisan (Treviño) (3v1n0) Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873883 Title: Impossible to discern which is the primary monitor in dock positioning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1873883/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
