Dock is kind of the right word. The feature is called the "Ubuntu Dock".
It's only in non-Ubuntu systems that it's called the Dash (by upstream
Gnome Shell).

I don't think there's anything to fix here. In Ubuntu it is "Dock" and
in upstream Gnome documentation it is the "Dash". They're actually
separate projects too. The only confusion really is that you might find
documentation for the Gnome Shell "Dash" in Ubuntu which Ubuntu does not
use.
