Public bug reported: A live cd (build March 19) will not boot on a 733Hz machine but boots on three other faster machines (1gHz and faster) with the same memory and all are Dells. I was able to boot an earlier build (March 17) without this problem on all four machines.
I have tried it 4 times now on the 733gHz machine and every time it boots very slowly (over ten minutes) and then I get a window with the following message: "There was an error starting GNOME Settings Daemon. The last error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was..." I connected with wvdial (since the dial-up modem in system tools does not work) and tried to send a bug report, but this did not work. I also tried to run /.xsessions-error in various directories without success. ** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Feisty 386 live cd does not boot on slower machine https://launchpad.net/bugs/94301 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
