Thanks for the reply. Obviously evince 3.4.0 is never going to be updated now and any fixes would be applied to later releases of evince.
I cannot reproduce the problem using either evince 3.28 in Xubuntu 18.04, or evince 3.32 in Ubuntu 19.10 (dev). I've also viewed the same file downloaded from other sources. There have been several reports of this problem in the past but they seem to have been fixed before this bug report was raised. The problem that you are experiencing may not be an evince bug but a bug in one of the dependencies. I'm closing this report for now by marking it "Fix Released" as the issue seems to have been fixed in later releases of evince. If when you upgrade to a supported Ubuntu release and you find that you still experience the bug as the originator of the report you can re-open it by changing the status back to "New". Preferably you should use the command 'ubuntu-bug evince' in a terminal so that the appropriate logs are attached to a new report. ** Tags added: precise ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672459 Title: incorrectly asks for password on .pdf file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1672459/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
